Since 2017, Kia has been building her professional career by gaining experience with youth and adults. She provides an eclectic approach to therapy through the practice of mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and a Solution-Focused framework. Kia is a two-time alumna of Bowie State University, holding a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor approved by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists and is also recognized as a National Certified Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. and Affiliates.
Kia uses her professional experience to assist clients in bettering their lives by shifting their perspective using specific therapeutic interventions. She uses her personal experience with hair loss/alopecia to inspire others to overcome challenges of their own, "turn lemons into lemonade", begin the process of self discovery, build/improve self esteem, show up as your authentic self in all spaces, and so much more. Kia's commitment to assisting others in thriving does not stop at the direct work she does with clients, but it is also seen through her passion in helping counselors, that are new to this field, grow. As a Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor (BACS), Kia believes in sharing knowledge and cultivating successful counselors.
